About

Terror Trail is a three-quarter-mile haunted walk through the dark Maryland woods — fog in the low ground, light in the trees where it shouldn't be, and something moving just past the edge of the path. It's built and performed by local volunteers, and every ticket goes straight back into the community that puts it on.

What to Expect

The Highlights

The Grave Path

The trail opens where the trees close in. Lantern light gutters over leaning headstones and freshly turned earth — and the ground here doesn't always stay still. Keep to the path. Whatever is buried out here knows the way back.

Pumpkin Hollow

A thousand carved faces flicker in the hollow, grinning from every stump and fencepost. Somewhere among them is a face that turns to watch you pass. You won't know which one until it's already behind you.

The Watchers in the Trees

Look up. The silhouettes strung between the branches aren't scarecrows, and they aren't as far away as they look. They don't move while you're watching. That's the trouble — you can't watch all of them at once.

Fog & Firelight

The low ground fills with fog you can lean on, lit from below by bonfires that throw shapes that shouldn't have anything casting them. Follow the firelight. Trust the fog less.

Under the Harvest Moon

The trail ends beneath the harvest moon, where the last of the dark gives way to the glow of the fairgrounds — kettle corn, warm cider, and the nervous laughter of everyone who just made it out. You did make it out. Didn't you?

Bring the Whole Family: The Boo Loop

Not everyone's ready for the Terror Trail — and that's what the Boo Loop is for. A gentler, glowing walk with friendly skeletons, storybook witches, fairy castles, our “Boo Zoo,” and a scavenger hunt for the kids. Costumes encouraged. Nightmares not included.
