No experience? Perfect.

Most of our volunteers started knowing nothing about firefighting or EMS. We provide all the training — for free — and teach you everything from the ground up. You bring the willingness; we’ll handle the rest.

The Upside

Why ride with us

All training, free

Firefighter and EMT certification is provided at no cost through MFRI and the county — no prior experience or training required.

Built around your life

Classes run evenings and weekends, and duty shifts are sign-up based across two stations — volunteer around your job and your family.

You won’t be doing it alone

You train alongside a crew and learn from experienced members every step of the way, from your first class to your first call.

The work is real

5,000+ calls a year across two stations. The training leads straight to the engine bay — and to neighbors who need the help.

Good Questions

Common questions

Do you really take people with zero experience?

Yes — most of our members started exactly there. If you’re 16 or older and willing to train, you’re who we’re looking for.

What training will I get?

Firefighter I, EMT, hazmat, incident command, and CPR — all provided free through MFRI and the county, on evenings and weekends so it fits around work.

How soon can I ride?

After a physical, background check, and orientation you can join our Observer Program and start riding along before and during your classes.

What’s the time commitment?

Riding members aim for about 48 hours a quarter at the station, and you sign up for the shifts that fit your schedule.
